Discover Varithena®, the FDA-approved microfoam therapy that treats enlarged veins without incisions or downtime.
Reincke Vein Center is proud to offer Varithena®, the only FDA-approved foam treatment designed specifically for enlarged leg veins. This non-surgical procedure uses a specialized microfoam (polidocanol) to collapse damaged veins gently. Once treated, the vein closes, and blood is naturally redirected to healthy vessels, immediately improving your circulation.
Because this is a medically necessary procedure, Varithena® is covered by most major insurance plans, including Medicare. Treatments take less than an hour at our Sugar Land clinic, so you can return to your day with zero downtime.
Varithena® is often the ideal solution for patients suffering from moderate to severe varicose veins, specifically those twisted, bulging vessels that cause physical discomfort or self-consciousness, who prefer a non-surgical alternative to traditional stripping or ligation. This minimally invasive approach is particularly well-suited for individuals seeking significant symptom relief without the risks associated with general anesthesia or lengthy hospital recoveries. Before proceeding, Dr. Reincke conducts a comprehensive vascular consultation, which includes detailed ultrasound mapping of your leg veins and a review of your full medical history. This rigorous screening process allows us to rule out contraindications, such as deep vein blood clots or specific allergies, ensuring that Varithena is not only the most effective choice for your unique anatomy but also the safest pathway to restoring your leg health.

Varithena is an FDA-approved microfoam specially formulated to treat the Great Saphenous Vein (GSV) system. When injected, the foam expands to fill the damaged vein section, collapsing the vessel wall and sealing it shut. This stops the backward flow of blood (venous reflux) and allows your body to naturally redirect circulation to healthy veins, improving both your symptoms and the appearance of your legs.
Most patients report little to no discomfort during the procedure. We use a local anesthetic to numb the small injection site, so you typically feel only a minor pinch. Since Varithena is a chemical ablation rather than a heat-based one (like laser), there is generally less post-procedure bruising or soreness compared to other methods.
There is virtually no downtime with Varithena. You will be able to walk immediately after the procedure—in fact, we encourage walking to aid circulation! Most patients return to their normal daily activities the same day. You may need to wear compression stockings for a short period to ensure the best results, and we recommend avoiding heavy exercise for a few days.
Yes, in most cases. Because varicose veins are often a sign of underlying venous disease rather than just a cosmetic issue, most major insurance providers and Medicare cover Varithena when deemed medically necessary. Our office can assist you in verifying your specific coverage and benefits prior to treatment.
