Endovenous Laser Ablation

What is Endovenous Laser Ablation?

Endovenous ablation (EVLA) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a laser that generates heat to treat both the symptoms and the underlying cause of the vein disease. Endovenous ablation has become the most common procedure to seal an abnormal great saphenous vein. Doctor Reincke performs vein ablations at our Sugar Land office in about one hour, with local anesthesia and minimal recovery time. Patients can usually return to work the same day.

How Does Endovenous Laser Ablation Work?

At Reincke Vein Center in Sugar Land, our vein ablation procedures are safe and efficient. The Doctor will insert a small catheter directly into the vein with unhealthy valves. The laser delivers the heat to specific areas of the vein until it completely halts the blood flow. A local anesthetic may be necessary to ensure the comfort of the patient. Over time the varicose vein fades and blood is rerouted through other healthy blood vessels.
